    Alpha-Pac Japan was founded in mid 2004 in Tokyo by Quinn Riordan, and continues the work of its predecessor company Bamboo Capital LLC. It provides exclusive research and investment advice to its affiliate Elmwood Advisors, based in Singapore. At the current time Elmwood Advisors is running one Japanese equity fund, the Alpha Pacific Qualified Partners Fund, with assets under management of USD200mn.

    Alta Asset Management LLC is an independent, employee-owned investment management boutique. We are dedicated to exploiting market inefficiencies perceived in Japan and the Pan Pacific region.

    BDT Invest Japanese Smaller Companies Fund is a sub-fund of our Dublin-registered FSA recognised UCITS umbrella. The Fund's mandate is long term capital appreciation through investment in Japanese smaller company equities. The Fund is run on a fully invested basis and is benchmarked to the TSE Second Section Index.

    The Himeji Fund is a long/short fund investing in Japan to create absolute returns. Managed by Dominic McEwan and Jeff Atherton. HX2 Fund is a Long /Short Fund investing in Japan to create absolute returns. HX2 Fund will be run with broadly twice the percentage holdings of the existing Himeji Fund.

    The GLG japanese long-short fund seeks to generate absolute returns from long and short investments in japanese equities. The investment strategy of the fund is based upon a disciplined process of fundamental analysis and a proprietary valuation framework. The fund aims to construct a diversified portfolio of investments with low market correlation.

    Atlantis Japan Growth Fund
    Atlantis Investment Management was founded in London during 1994. It is an independent company, owned by the managers, clearly focused on investment management in the Asian region. Atlantis Investment Management is regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

    Japan rules could curb sale of hedge funds to investors

    New securities regulation aimed at protecting household investors will make it more difficult to provide sophisticated financial products for the Japanese retail market, officials in Japan's securities industry have warned. The rule, expected to come into effect next summer, increases the burden on financial advisers to explain the risks surrounding potential investments in hedge funds and complex financial instruments.

    US hedge fund wants control of Japan's Sapporo

    TOKYO (AFP) - The US hedge fund Steel Partners said that it had submitted a proposal to take a controlling stake in major brewer Sapporo Holdings in its latest foray in Japan.

    A group of hedge fund managers including former Steel Partners Japan founder Kenzo Kuroda recently launched a Japan-focused activist fund. The Fugen Capital Japan Fund launched with internal capital on Nov. 22 and began taking in outside money just last month, according to sources familiar with the firm.

    Japanese investors increase hedge-fund exposure

    Japan’s big institutional investors raised their exposure to hedge funds in 2006 and are likely to do so again in 2007, but performance is becoming a worry, according to a survey by Nomura Research Institute.
