    Best year for Europe hedge fund launches

    New European hedge fund launches hit a record high in 2006, as did the overall volume of assets raised by the fledgling funds, a survey has found.In Europe 423 funds were launched last year, the EuroHedge survey shows. More than half of these were launched in the second half of 2006.

    Ermitage launches European Multi Strategy Fund

    Jersey-based fund of hedge funds manager Ermitage Group has launched the European Multi Strategy Fund with assets under management of more than USD30m as part of a programme which has already invested more than USD550m, including mandates from leading US pension funds and endowments, through European managers.

    Hedge fund assets managed out of London grew 18% in 2005 to $225bn making London one of the fastest growing hedge fund centres according to the 2006 edition of IFSL's Hedge Funds report.
